Volunteer & Outreach Program Services
Portland Women’s Crisis Line (PWCL) is a volunteer-driven agency that operates with the support of dedicated members and volunteers. Volunteers may choose to provide direct service as advocates in the Advocacy Program supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Volunteers may also help with community outreach, fundraising efforts, the Board of Directors and various projects as needed.
Since our formation in 1973, educational presentations have been a core service of PWCL. By educating the larger community about the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence, as well as the oppressions that make these issues even more complex, we believe we can create a world without violence.
We believe that one of a survivor’s best resources is a community that is willing to support and advocate for a world without domestic and sexual violence. By accessing PWCL’s community education services, you will gain new skills to support survivors of domestic and sexual violence, interrupt violence and sexism when you see it, and deepen your understanding of the root causes of oppression.
We offer a variety of workshops and presentations on the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence. If your group or organization is looking for more information about the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence, give us a call and we can work together to meet your request. As well as offering workshops and presentations, we also operate Basic Advocacy Trainings throughout the year to provide our volunteers and staff with the most up-to-date knowledge before they provide direct services to survivors. The Community Outreach and Education Program is also available to table events in the tri-county area.
